in the first part, it works like a normal camera; the apeture opens, light strikes the film and creates an image. In the second part, the development of the image, it’s much different. Basically, it’s the film that makes the difference. With polaroid film, when you peel back the top layer, you are physically releasing the chemicals to develop, or set, the image.
Some cameras have built in flash, others have a slot where you plug in a flashbar. Without flash you should be able to take pictures outdoors in daylight if the film is good.
i JUST found an 80’s Polaroid camera in the corner of my house without even knowing i had it! The pics it takes comes out OK but it doesnt come out all the way, like the picture is only on half the film. I was also wondering what the arrow things in the middle were-somebody plz explainnn!!!!!!!!

Do not peel back any top layer as another answerer has suggested. They’re thinking of another type of Polaroid that uses pack film.
What model? What film?
Manuals for many Polaroid cameras are available.
If it is mechanically ejecting images then it is NOT the kind of Polaroid film that needs to be peeled apart.
It sounds like it is working like it should. For an image to show, without using flash, you need to be outside in the sunlight.
